This position is a seasoned Project Engineering professional working independently. Supports the development of project plans, schedules and budgets, tracks progress, resolves problems, develops solutions, and forecasts project revenue. Coordinates with other functional organizations. Identifies and addresses project problems, analyzes data gathered, and develops solutions and recommendations to solve problems, meet deadlines and optimize performance.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops project plans, schedules, and budgets for small to mid-size projects and suggests appropriate adjustments to ensure adherence to the established project plan, schedule, and budget

  • Directs the work from inception through completion of indirectly reporting employees assigned to projects in technical design, testing and manufacturing areas as well as administrative areas.

  • Records and documents delay, changes in scope, and any other incidents that impact the scope of work or schedule to ensure smooth project operations

  • Generate and maintain project schedules with understood dependencies, deliveries, and critical path

  • Tracks progress, identifies and resolves obstacles to minimize disruption to project schedules to ensure smooth project operations

  • Utilize Earned Value (EV) methods for managing project budget (and schedule)

  • Ensure project & products meets quality expectations

  • Identify risks & opportunities while working to resolve them by recommending resolutions through proactive ownership

  • Develop engineering estimates and proposals for potential projects and to gain organizational buy-in

  • Forecasts project revenues, monitors costs and re-estimates project costs monthly to maximize project profitability and ensure business targets are met

  • Facilitates project tasks with the various functional organizations to ensure alignment with overall project objectives

  • Represents Collins as the primary customer contact for projects.

  • Prepare well-crafted presentations reporting project status to leadership teams

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Must be a US Person

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to establish and maintaining effective customer relationships

  • Outstanding oral, written, and formal presentation communication skills

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to effectively execute multiple active projects

  • Resiliency in the face of adversity

  • Proficiency with developing and maintaining schedules using Microsoft Project

  • Comfortable managing projects with scope comprised of numerous intricate requirements

  • Experience with EVMS (Earned Value Management Systems)

  • Experience with ERP systems, SAP preferred

  • Experience with solid modeling, Solidworks preferred

  • Experience with Risk and Opportunity management

  • Experience leading projects and indirectly reporting cross-functional teams within a highly matrixed organization

  • PMP certification, a plus
