GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Product Manager is responsible for managing the research, development, implementation and inforce actions of competitive and profitable products for both American Equity Life (AEL) and Eagle Life. The incumbent will be responsible for timely delivery of competitive and profitable new and existing products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drives the execution of requirements for both product development and product launches. Orchestrates all of the activities required to bring new products to market with a strong focus to meet customer needs and profit objectives.
Creates product strategy documents that describe business cases and high-level use cases.
Provides product specifications in a timely manner and answer all questions on those specifications for partners.
Manages day to day relationships with internal and external implementation team and distribution partners.
Works closely with distribution partners to develop a forward-looking product calendar.
Proactively manages and updates the product calendar and ensure all partners stay on-track.
Maintains the highest level of product knowledge and partner closely with the competitive unit to understand the competitive environment.
Works with Communications to assist with development of materials and campaigns for product launches and with creation of marketing campaigns for post-launch product portfolio management.
Develops training for Executive and Marketing teams for positioning our products.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Math or Accounting.
Seven (7) plus years of experience in an Insurance Product Development role demonstrating growth in responsibilities.

Substantial network of industry contacts in home office and marketing company positions
In-depth understanding of insurance business; specifically annuities.
Technical annuity product knowledge
Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills
Advanced knowledge and command of Microsoft Excel
