GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Market Research Analyst is responsible for research, analysis, and reporting of competitor actions with the goal of providing recommendations for product development efforts and product market positioning. The Analyst supports other areas of the company impacted by the development and implementation of new products including, but not limited to, Marketing, Marketing Services, Actuarial, and Compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitors, reviews, and documents competitor actions including rate changes, promotions, new product filings, and other changes daily. Determines impact on business and reports as appropriate.
Prepares a report of all competitive intelligence gathered over the past week and disseminates internally with analysis and business impact included in the report. Monitors TAMP systems to ensure that AEL products are represented accurately.
Participates in relevant competition-related meetings/committees each month. Reports any relevant findings. Assists in preparing reports for senior leadership summarizing competitor actions and impact over the past month. Assists with developing competitor training for the sales teams.
Compiles and analyzes all competitor quarterly sales data from LIMRA’s Secure Retirement Institute and Wink. Prepares a report that analyzes sales by distribution channel, carrier, product, and rider for distribution to senior leadership. Determines trends based upon recent and past sales results. Conducts analysis to predict future sales trends.
Travels to and actively participates in the LIMRA Annuity Research Study Group and the Retirement Industry Conference annually.
Assists with the development of materials and campaigns for product launches.
Assists with creating marketing campaigns for post-launch product portfolio management.
Develops training for Executive and Marketing teams for positioning company products against top-selling FIA products.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or other related field of study; plus, a minimum of 4 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Life Insurance industry and annuity experience required.
Has acquired a network of industry contacts in home office and marketing positions.
Proven experience turning research data into actionable business improvements.
