Purpose:

The Capital Management Associate will be responsible for providing economic capital modeling expertise and analysis within the Athene Capital Management & Reinsurance team. This unique opportunity will allow the individual to support and drive the development and presentation of economic capital modeling results to Senior Management.Our ideal candidate will have experience with capital modeling/forecasting and/or actuarial modeling; having an actuarial background would be a plus for the role, but is not a requirement. The selected individual will also have the ability to drive capital efficiency across the organization. This position will have the opportunity to collaborate with leaders across departments including Investments, Actuarial, Risk, and Finance. This role will report to the AVP, Capital Management and Reinsurance within the Finance team.

Accountabilities:

  • Drive economic capital modeling efforts within the organization by partnering with members from the Investment, Risk, Finance, and Pricing teams.

  • Prepare exhibits, presentations, and other documents to communicate results and provide recommendations on strategic uses of Capital to Senior Management and become the subject matter expert.

  • Establish efficient processes for regular reporting of economic capital model results.

  • Explain economic capital model results to senior management.

Qualifications and Experience:

Actuarial Candidate

  • A degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Financial Engineering or related field

  • At least 4 years actuarial and business-related experience, preferably with experiences in modeling, pricing, valuation, or risk roles; experience with Solvency II is a plus

  • Actuarial Fellowship (FSA) or Actuarial Associate (ASA) preferred

  • Highly motivated and ability to thrive in fast-paced, results oriented environment with high quality standards

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strategic and analytical thinker with ability to focus on details and synthesize into actionable recommendations

    Non-Actuarial Candidate

  • A degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Financial engineering or related field

  • At least 5 years of related insurance industry experience

  • Strong Finance, Accounting (US GAAP and Statutory), skills including strong balance sheet and income statement projection knowledge.

  • Highly motivated and ability to thrive in fast-paced, results oriented environment with high quality standards

  • Desire good communications skills as interactions with multiple areas will be keys to success in the role

  • Strategic and analytical thinker with ability to focus on details and synthesize into actionable recommendations
