TitleControls EngineerEOE StatementCategoryEngineeringDescriptionAs a controls engineer you will:Confer with engineers, customers, vendors, or others to discuss existing or potential electronics engineering projects or products.Assist Project Manager in developing machine control concepts and estimates.Assist Project Manager in writing technical section of proposals.Assist Project Manager with presentation of project concepts.Assist Sales with selling the company's capabilities.Represent employer at conferences, meetings, working groups to present, explain, or defend findings or recommendations.Develop project schedules and milestones.Determine project material or equipment needs.Evaluate project work to ensure effectiveness, technical adequacy, or compatibility in the resolution of complex electronics engineering projects or products.Prepare budget or cost estimates for equipment, construction, or installation projects or control expenditures.Analyze electronics system requirements, capacity, cost, or customer needs to determine project feasibility.Monitor project for scope changes and report them to Project Manager.Monitor detail design of project.Review and update technical objectives of project with Project Manager, salesperson and clients.Provide electrical drawing package that complies with the section's standard operating procedures.Perform electrical design calculations.Specify electrical control hardware.Plan or develop applications or modifications for electronic properties used in components, products, or systems to improve technical performance.Utilize AutoCAD and electronic drafting skills, and develop productivity enhancement tools.Electrically and logically interface electrical components.Apply motion control hardware to system design.Write PLC, motion control, operator interface software to meet project requirements.Prepare, review, or maintain maintenance schedules, design documentation, or operational reports or charts.Provide checking function of electrical print package and technical support to electrical designers.Direct or coordinate activities concerned with manufacture, construction, installation, maintenance, operation, or modification of electronic equipment, products, or systems.Provide technical support or instruction to staff or customers regarding electronics equipment standards.Stay current concerning technological developments, design practices and manufacturing.Position Requirements1. Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or similar technical field, or equivalent work experience and demonstrated technical capability.2. Minimum 3 years of experience in designing machine controls.3. Familiarization with NEC, JIC, and other accepted codes and practices.4. Exposure to accepted electrical fabrication practices.5. Experience with using AutoCAD for design work.6.
