Position Purpose:

Provides diagnostic radiographs and performs interventional endovascular procedures in accordance with established parameters. Provides continuity of patient care. Assists Radiologist with procedures. Understands technical parameters of all interventional equipment in IR and the OR and demonstrates competency in scrub and surgical technique and advanced sterile procedure. Adheres to MercyOne’s performance expectations, customer service and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne.

What you will Do:

Prepares patient, room and equipment for procedure.

Collects history data from patient and provides patient education.

Provides patient cares in accordance with department policy.

Takes radiographic exposures appropriate to procedure.

Performs diagnostic and interventional endovascular procedures and demonstrates appropriate positioning.

Demonstrates the ability to interact in a positive manner with peers, other departments, physicians, providers and students.

Adheres to all safety, infection control and employee health policies and procedures.

Based on principles of growth and development, provides care appropriate to the age related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit, which may include:

Birth-28 days: Neonate

1-18 Months: Infant

18 Mo-3 Yrs: Toddler

3-6 Yrs: Pre-School Aged

6-12 Yrs: School-Aged

12-18 Yrs: Adolescents

18-65 Yrs: Adults

65+ Yrs: Geriatrics

Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures.

Full Time

Starting and end times may vary - typically 7-8:30 am to 3:30 pm

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited program in Radiography.

Must have a valid Iowa permit to practice. Registered Technologist (Radiography) by AART. Must attain AART Advanced Certification in Interventional Radiology within 36 months of hire.

  • Intermediate language, intermediate math, high reasoning ability

  • Computer skills

  • Ability to take call and respond within 30 minutes

  • Ability to work with a large degree of independence

  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people.

  • Ability to use independent judgement to solve problems

  • Ability to perform office procedures when neeeded

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical demands are very heavy with moderate amounts of lifting, pushing, pulling over 100 lbs. Moderate standing, walking, twisting, and wrist deviation. Frequent pinching, hand/wrist repetitions. Fine motor skills and both handedness. Requires 20/20 near and far vision, color discrimination, accurate depth perception. Impact, chemical radiation, blood bourne pathogen hazard to eyes. Impact hazard to head, compression and impact hazard to feet, impact, penetration, chemical blood bourne pathogen, radiation hazard to hands, chemical, blood/body, radiation hazard to torso, vapor, fumes, particulates, blood/body fluids and chemical hazards to respiratory.
