It is vital to be very attentive to detail and assertive upon completing the day-to-day tasks in a safe & efficient manner. The duties of the Material Handler are listed below, but are not limited or restricted by those listed. The Materials Handler will follow instruction and direction to perform other related tasks as required & deemed necessary to the overall efficiency of the department.EEO/AA InformationResponsibilitiesWork assignments may include loading and unloading rack trays (weigh up to 150 lbs. each), palletizing boxes, which may weigh up to 50 lbs. each and stacking boxes 5-6 layers high. Scooping product from vats/combos (approximately 5-40 lbs. per scoop), transporting racks and other duties as assigned.In the absence of key personnel the employee's supervisor or qualified designee (one that has been trained in the key employee's duties) is responsible to complete or delegate the completion of all required tasks and responsibilities.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNonePhysical DemandsThis is a physically demanding role requiring manual and machine-assisted movement of goods.* Ability to lift/carry up to 65 lbs.* Ability to push/pull 100 pounds or less and bend, squat and kneel.* Ability to twist, turn, climb, crawl, reach above shoulder, and frequently reach outward, walk, sit, and drive.* Ability to handle stressful situations and work in a fast-paced environment.* Moving racks, which weight a minimum of 350 lbs. to 2500 lbs. per rack.Work EnvironmentAbility to work in non-climate controlled areas (20-40 degrees)Software Powered by iCIMSSmithfield is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action (EEO/AA) Employer.
