Job Summary

The Sales Training Lead manages the sales and parts training for the industrial dealer network. This position strives to lead, define, create, and provide leadership for service, parts, and sales training and development initiatives for the global industrial dealership organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Demonstrate the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused, and stewardship and model the associated behaviors.

  2. Design learning solutions by partnering with subject matter experts within the company or by researching outside vendors for content. These learning solutions include classroom training, webinars, e-learning, or on-the-job training.

  3. Manage assigned personnel in performance of their duties including, but not limited to, hiring, evaluation, motivating, scheduling work activities, and corrective action. Establish and monitor individual and team goals which are aligned with the Organization’s business strategies and objectives.

  4. Facilitate training sessions to engage participants in the learning process and achieve desired outcomes and objectives. Formulate training policies, programs, and standard work based on strategic needs assessments, company standards, and policy deployment.

  5. Gather and analyze training data to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of training programs and create driving measure goals for dealership training programs. Administer and evaluate effective certification programs to insure it provides value to the organization and its dealers.

  6. Travel to and from dealer and customer sites worldwide to facilitate in location training. Participate in parts and service conference, trade shows, customer day events, sales meetings, road shows, and demo tours. Develop and maintain relationships with global and key account contacts, customers and dealerships.

  7. Facilitate meetings with the company leadership to assess strategic training needs for the global dealer organization. Conduct formalized needs assessment to identify training needs for their service, parts, and sales personnel. Formulate a strategic training plan based on the results of the needs assessment and create projects as required.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Training & Development, Education, or Business Management

  • Minimum of 7 years' job experience and/or training in management; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Minimum 5 years' sales experience; heavy equipment industry preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to demonstrate the use of the full assigned Vermeer product line for the appropriate segment(s).

  • Ability to operate vehicles such as car, pickup, and low-behind trailers.

  • Ability to operate a digital camera and an LCD projector.

  • Knowledge in the areas of adult learning, facilitation techniques, training industry trends, technology industry trends, and needs assessments.

  • Ability to effectively manage projects, people, time and resources.

  • Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and coworkers.

  • Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness with customers and peers.

  • Ability to produce accurate, professional and error-free documents in a timely manner.

  • Demonstration of good oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to develop new and quality training presentations and ideas and effectively manage projects.

  • Ability to respond to continually changing priorities to meet customer demands.

  • Ability to creatively present information in a manner which engages learner participation and thought.

  • Ability to take complex topics or tasks and break them down for the learners and effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to engage all classroom participants in the training, evaluate if learners are comprehending the material, and adjust the material as needed.

  • Ability to work with subject matter experts within the organization to develop quality training programs that meet customer needs and expectations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration

Certificates preferred in Facilitating Adult Learning, Project Management, Integrity Selling Facilitator, and Public Speaking.

Travel

Up to 25% domestic and/or international travel by car or plane may be required.
