1 - First Shift

The Technical Publications Lead offers oversight to the printing and distribution functions for the department and staff. This role ensures orderly operation of the publishing processes to deliver quality product to the customers on time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Lead through the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused, and stewardship and model the associated behaviors. Manage assigned team members in performance of their duties. Establish and monitor individual and team goals which are aligned with the organization’s business strategies and objectives and ensure department is properly serving its internal and external customers and meeting defined expectations.

  2. Review, plan, organize, and implement process improvements, schedule and coordinate projects plan and complete each customer order as indicated.

  3. Communicate with other departments for printing needs and questions. Maintain databases for inventory control and for the total price of printed material produced for each department. Maintain equipment and order supplies.

  4. Operate all digital publishing equipment.

  5. Provide distribution and inventory requirements for technical manuals and kits. Assist team members to ensure customer deadlines are met.

  6. Assign manual order numbers for technical manuals. Answer manual and printing questions submitted by e-mails, direct contact and telephone calls; determine order prices of technical manuals.

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate's degree in Digital Media or Publishing with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a document finishing/printing/publishing role; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of database and publishing software.

  • Knowledge of Vermeer products used for customer orders.

  • Knowledge of different types of papers and supplies used in printing.

  • Knowledge of and ability to operate printing equipment including, but not limited to, high-speed copier, tape binding machine, paper cutter and drill, laminating machine, crimping machine, vacuum sealer, folder/perforating machine and stitcher; ability to troubleshoot problems with printing equipment.

  • Ability to effectively manage publishing and distribution functions.

  • Demonstration of good oral and strong written communication skills; ability to communicate in an effective way to the customers.

  • Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers.

  • Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness with customers and peers; ability to develop interpersonal relationships with co-workers, staff, clients and the community to meet or exceed expectations.

  • Ability to provide accurate, professional and error-free documents.

Travel

Up to 5% domestic and/or international travel by car or plane may be required.
