1 - First Shift

The Specialist I - Sales Training executes the design, development and delivery of sales training courses for Vermeer dealers. This role serves as a critical partner to product group sales, marketing and product management in how to effectively build and deliver training programs and learning solutions across a variety of channels that advance dealer sales proficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Exhibit the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused and stewardship while modeling the associated behaviors.

  2. S upport the effective delivery of sales training programs through Vermeer University online, Dealer Center, live broadcast events and hands-on experiences. Schedule and promote training events and programs to internal and external stakeholders to maximize the attendance and participation in those programs.

    1. Design and deliver sales training materials, templates and standards. Communicate and collaborate with experts in the organization, such as technical support, product management and field personnel to identify training needs/issues to achieve training objectives for a variety of delivery methods. Investigate new ways to deliver effective training and inspire the sales network and work with internal teams to refine and adapt training programs for the right delivery method.

    2. Help prepare subject matter experts to deliver training material and programs effectively.

    3. Serve as on-screen spokesperson for both live and recorded training events and programs. Partner with subject matter experts to create scripts and content to meet training objectives.

    4. Work with leaders to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of existing training and development programs utilizing assessment and evaluation tools linked to adult learning models and company initiatives.

    Education and/or Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Training and Development, Mass Communication, Education, Journalism, or Business Management.

    • Minimum of 1 year of related industry experience in training or sales; and/or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

    Other Skills and Abilities

  • Effective Identification and Definition of Learning Objectives.

    • Experience establishing and implementing training design standards and processes.

    • Quick-study aptitude to learn Vermeer processes, equipment and tools.

    • Ability to operate vehicles such as car, pickup, and farm equipment.

    • Ability to operate a digital camera, video camera and an LCD projector.

    • Knowledge in the areas of facilitation techniques, training industry trends, technology industry trends, needs assessments, and organizational policies.

    • Basic knowledge of video editing.

    • Comfortable in front of groups and on camera.

    • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize projects, people, time, and resources.

    • Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers.

    • Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness with customers and peers.

    • Ability to produce accurate, professional and error-free documents in a timely manner.

    • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.

    • Demonstration of good verbal and presentation skills.


Up to 25% domestic and/or international travel by car or plane may be required.

Work Location

ONSITE: A team member’s day-to-day work is best done on a Vermeer campus. If work content can be occasionally completed at an offsite location, discuss potential arrangements with your manager.
