Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician III – Fleet performs complex and/or advanced automotive maintenance on fleet vehicles. This role provides direction and/or training to a small group of maintenance team members and receives general supervision as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Demonstrate the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused, and stewardship and model the associated behaviors.

  2. Research and recommend equipment replacement schedule. Schedule and plan work for the team.

  3. Provide estimates of repair time and cost.

  4. Perform and accurately record scheduled preventative maintenance procedures on a variety of fleet vehicles.

  5. Create a positive customer experience when working with operators, leaders, and peers.

  6. Accurately enter data into maintenance business system (Thrive).

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in basic trades (automotive maintenance, construction, plumbing, and/or electrical).

  • Previous experience with automotive, diesel, and/or powered industrial trucks required.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.

  • Basic math skills.

  • Read blueprints and electrical schematics.

  • Write routine reports and intra-department communications.

  • Effectively present information verbally and written and respond to questions from groups of managers, suppliers, customer, and dealers.

  • Perform basic Microsoft Office skills, CAD and other software.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in problem solving techniques and root cause analysis.

  • Perform multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to assess, evaluate, and carry out appropriate action for a given situation.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration

  • ASE (automotive service excellence) certification preferred.
