Job Summary

The Applications Specialist organizes, plans, and conducts activities necessary to achieve commercialization goals. This position provides sales support to dealers by providing technical sales and application support and assisting dealers in aggressive sales opportunities. This role provides critical assistance to customers in selection and use of products, while resolving concerns, issues, or problems. This position provides information to grow market share and improve service and product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with variety of stakeholders, including dealers/customers, product managers, engineers and senior management, to disseminate product related information as a subject matter expert using competitive market information to articulate and communicate the versatility and applicability Vermeer products and product features in diverse conditions. Proficiently operate, differentiate, and demonstrate Vermeer product offerings as compared to competitors.

  2. Provide expertise relating to product promotion and market analysis to trade magazine editors and publishers, periodicals and journals, and social media sites. May write and present white papers regarding the products and product line to promote visibility and capture market share.

  3. Present Engineering with data concerning new product design and enhancement feature designs to current and new products. Provide the field's perspective to service and production related issues; create and deliver strategic and tactical training for sales and service personnel to promote the features and benefits of Vermeer products versus the competition.

  4. Train customers/dealers on various application specific details and the effects on the machine performance.

  5. Represent Vermeer by attending tradeshows, customer day events, sales meetings, and road shows as the Vermeer expert on the product line. Participate in dealer focus groups and annual business planning.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or equivalent

  • Minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience

  • Vermeer product knowledge preferred

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge in the area(s) of Vermeer product line as well as competitive product offerings, market share and size opportunities.

  • Demonstration of strong verbal and written communication skills including effectively serving as the subject matter expert to communicate with dealer, customers at seminars, write white papers etc.

  • Ability to effectively manage travel time spent at dealerships, tradeshows, and customer visits; training material completion deadlines and new product launches.

  • Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers.

  • Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships, which encourage openness with customers and peers.

  • Ability to provide accurate, professional and error free documents.

  • Ability to obtain sales goals and continuously develop dealers.

  • Ability to operate product line equipment.

  • Ability to be customer oriented and have a can do attitude to provide effective training and product support.

  • Ability to make good decisions in very difficult and tense situations.
