1 - First Shift

The Construction Engineer will oversee the construction projects from the planning and design of each project to overseeing the engineering processes and specifications of each construction project ensuring that the result meets specifications, requirements, regulations, and code compliance. This position seeks to understand the needs of the customer and drives projects to completion with limited supervision on tactical steps of the process. Responsibilities will include the selection of, developing and maintaining a complete list of approved contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers that meet Vermeer requirements along with coordination with the Director of Facilities.

Job Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Demonstrate the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused, and stewardship and model the associated behaviors.

  2. Coordinate project management responsibilities aligned with construction projects from design through on time execution. Ensures projects stay on time and on budget and keeps all customers and business leaders informed of project status.

  3. Seeks to understand needs of the customer and responds with recommendations that align with Vermeer requirements utilizing approved contractors, subcontractors, vendors and suppliers to ensure that customer needs are met in project plans and execution.

  4. Responsible for design, management, engineering, cloud data and translation of information from 2D to 3D models for the organization. Ensure accurate and up to date documentation through Building Information Modeling systems of all facilities.

Education and/or Experience

  • 4-year college degree in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology or similar

  • Minimum 7 years experience in Construction/Engineering field.

  • Experience in scanning and modeling including Autodesk Revit, Autodesk BIM Field and Glue, 3DS Max, Civil 3D Point Layout, Faro Scene, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Solidworks, and Bluebeam Revu preferred.

  • Lean or continuous improvement experience in the construction trade preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of construction, MEP, and equipment

  • Demonstration of strong leadership, decision-making, organizational and project management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate projects to meet established deadlines

  • Ability to work effectively with multiple individuals in a fast-paced and rapidly changing work environment.

  • Knowledge of electrical, construction and maintenance concepts.

  • Great mathematical, time-management & problem-solving skills

  • Ability to provide informative and professional direction and decision making when working with contractors, customers and co-workers and maintain healthy relationships.

  • Ability to produce accurate, professional, and error-free documents in a timely manner.

  • Develop and maintain all construction technical documents.

  • Maintain knowledge on all contract terms and legal requirements for all construction projects to avoid delays

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels.
