Indian Hills Community College Teaching & Learning Instructional Coach in Ottumwa, Iowa

Job Summary:

The Teaching and Learning Instructional Coach will assist with the operations of the College’s Teaching and Learning Center. Funded by a U.S. Department of Education Title III Strengthening Institutions Program grant, the Center will provide coordinated professional development and support focused on effective instruction to IHCC faculty. Delivery of services may occur in a variety of formats including, but not limited to, large group sessions, collaborative groups, individual learning cycles, webinars, online courses, classroom observations and more. The Teaching and Learning Instructional Coach will be responsible for facilitating sessions with faculty that could include planning, modeling, and co-teaching lessons, as well as observing, providing feedback, and coaching classroom instruction, as well as planning and delivery of stand-alone professional development content focused on research-based instructional practices.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree required in Education or a related field.

  • Three years teaching experience required, postsecondary level teaching preferred.

  • Experience in designing, presenting, and facilitating adult learning experiences.

  • Strong knowledge of instructional design and delivery tools.

  • Broad working knowledge of instructional technology.

  • Effective interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment focused on results.

Work Performed:

  • Facilitate learning and implementation of best practices among faculty, adjunct, concurrent enrollment and continuing education instructors in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and technology integration.

  • Develop, implement, and facilitate professional development sessions, collaborative work groups, individualized coaching cycles, webinars, online courses, learning events and more.

  • Conduct classroom and lab observations.

  • Facilitate one-on-one advising sessions with faculty/instructors.

  • Train instructors to effectively use the credentialing management system (NEOED LEARN).

  • Support faculty/instructors with MyHills (BlackBoard) and how to incorporate online collaborative systems into courses.

  • Assist with planning and implementing new faculty/instructors onboarding (New Faculty Academy), training for part-time adjunct faculty (Adjunct Academy), online course offerings, events and other projects.

  • Foster collaboration and innovation among faculty/instructors.

  • Serve on various IHCC and statewide committees to represent the college and the Teaching and Learning Center as assigned.

  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work.

  • Other duties as assigned.

9 hrs/day, Monday-Thursday

Salary Range:

$56,174.00 - 62,086.00
