Job Description

This is a non-merit position with the Iowa Judicial Branch. Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To Apply" section.

Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.

The Iowa Judicial Branch is looking to fill an Official Certified Shorthand Reporter to assist the state. Location 8th Judicial District - Southeast Iowa May serve the following counties: Appanoose, Davis, Des Moines, Henry, Jefferson, Keokuk, North Lee, South Lee, Louisa, Mahaska, Monroe, Poweshiek, Van Buren, Wapello and Washington.

Domicile to be determined depending on candidate selected. The reporter will record court testimony via standard methods, prepare transcripts and provide general office and clerical support for the court.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from high school (GED); graduation from a school of court reporting with courses including legal and medical terminology, English, typing and law. Certification as a court reporter by the Iowa Board of Shorthand Reporters preferred, Must be certified as a court reporter by the Iowa Board of Shorthand Reporters, or obtain certification within six months of date of hire.
