Job Description

This position issues and distributes supplies and equipment to all areas of the hospital and is responsible for maintaining proper storage of supplies and equipment. All work is to be done in accordance with the standard procedure of the Materials Management Department in accordance with Clarke County Hospital objectives

Materials Management Responsibilities

  • Issue and distribute supplies and equipment throughout the hospital according to established Materials Management policies and procedures.

  • Review and store supplies and equipment in accordance with established department policies and procedures.

  • Inspect all receipts.

  • Receive items into the computer system.

  • Requisitions items out of the computer system after delivering items.

  • Identify non-inventory items received and deliver to specified departments in a timely manner.

  • Performs certain clerical tasks such as signing bill of lading, freight bills, and packing slips noting all damage, shortages, or discrepancies. Originate claims of shortages or damage noted on packing slips. Forward this information to the integrated Services Manager for review and further processing.

  • Place store room items in their proper rotating stock on the oldest is use first. Properly identify shelved items with inventory number. Assist in maintaining and arranging supplies in an orderly fashion.

  • Operate equipment necessary to distribute freight.

  • Observe and report the need for repairs to hospital equipment.

  • Perform physical inventories as assigned.

  • Train other employees on materials management processes. These employees may not have materials management as primary responsibility, rather they co-assigned to the material management area.

  • Purposefully conduct all aspects of the job in an ethical manner in support of the hospital?s commitment to ethical behavior in all areas of personal and professional activity.

  • Assist in receiving of freight.

  • Operate lift trucks or other equipment utilized to move supplies and equipment.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Previous experience as a distribution clerk position preferred, but not required. Demonstrates skill with the use of computers.

Education:

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
