The University of Nebraska at Omaha is seeking aChief EngineerProvide daily supervision and guidance of University employees pertaining to the maintenance and operations of the Central Utilities Plant, associated energy systems and buildings on campus. Conduct project management of department related projects. Also provide general supervision of external contractors that may be completing tasks for the department.-Assist the Assistant Director of Campus Facilities in planning, implementation, operation and utilization of the computerized maintenance management systems.-Oversee and Manage daily schedules, assignments and duties of personnel in the Central Utility Plant (CUP) and Campus buildings.-Supervise, train and manage assigned personnel.-Provide technical expertise and train personnel in new and more advanced means of performing operational and preventative maintenance.-Conduct interviews for prospective employees and prepare annual evaluations for assigned staff.-Be able to develop project plans and specifications for projects related to department functions.-Must be able to solicit project bid quotes and award bids for associated projects following university standards.-Must be able to exhibit project management skills including the over site of contractors for the completion of assigned project.-Responsible for maintaining equipment and systems within theiCUP,iUNOiBuildings and campus distribution systems in optimum operating condition.-Make operational decisions on the Central Utilities Plant equipment/systems including boilers, chillers and pumps in a safe effective and efficient manner.Required Qualifications:High School Diploma.Minimum Five year experience in commercial refrigeration andiHVACioperations.Minimum Five year experience with high-pressure steam systems, chiller plant operations and energy management system operation.Minimum Five years supervisory experience.Experience with computer operations.Experience with operation and maintenance of pneumatic controls and direct digital controls.Valid vehicle operator license.Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams.Must have a proven record of decision making abilities using rational deductive reasoning.Must have a proven record of successful central utility plant operation of high-pressure boilers, chillers, pumps, energy management systems and working with 24-hour shift operation.Must be able to analyze and solve problems from a system prospective.Salary Information:i Commensurate with ExperienceFor more information please contact unoemployment@unomaha.eduTo apply, please visit: http://unomaha.peopleadmin.com/postings/11447Initial application review will begin on 09/07/2020.
