SUMMARY: TruStile Doors, the leading national manufacturer of architectural doors for the high-end residential and commercial segments, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for its Northwood, IA operation. The Manufacturing Engineer will be hands-on and capable of implementing robust initiatives that will support the growth of the business. The qualified individual will have continuous improvement experience and a proven track record implementing lean manufacturing practices. The position reports to the Engineering Manager and is part of the engineering group.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes utilizing lean manufacturing techniques to identify waste.

  • Become a subject matter expert on new production equipment and create detailed work instructions to train operators, supervisors, and maintenance.

  • Develop waste reduction plans and provide ROI justifications for improvement projects.

  • Utilize 5S principles to organize product workflows and workstation set-ups.

  • Create standard work for critical processes that incorporate maintenance schedules to ensure process reliability.

  • Establish consistent work procedures across all shifts based on the best practices to ensure predictable outcomes.

  • Provide consistent and ongoing support to production to create a culture of continuous improvement related to safety, quality and efficiency.

  • Track and audit the results of improvement projects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • 2 – 5 years of experience as a manufacturing engineer with at least a bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical engineering.

  • Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment, with responsibility for project scope, timeline, and budget

  • Experience in building-products or millwork industries a plus

  • Demonstrated hands-on expertise or formal training in lean manufacturing

  • Computer proficient (Office Suite and AutoCAD)

  • Experience working with FANUC CNC controls is a plus

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
