SUMMARY: TruStile Doors, the leading national manufacturer of architectural doors for the high-end residential and commercial segments, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for its Northwood, IA operation. The Manufacturing Engineer will be hands-on and capable of implementing robust initiatives that will support the growth of the business. The qualified individual will have continuous improvement experience and a proven track record implementing lean manufacturing practices. The position reports to the Engineering Manager and is part of the engineering group.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Evaluate manufacturing processes utilizing lean manufacturing techniques to identify waste.
Become a subject matter expert on new production equipment and create detailed work instructions to train operators, supervisors, and maintenance.
Develop waste reduction plans and provide ROI justifications for improvement projects.
Utilize 5S principles to organize product workflows and workstation set-ups.
Create standard work for critical processes that incorporate maintenance schedules to ensure process reliability.
Establish consistent work procedures across all shifts based on the best practices to ensure predictable outcomes.
Provide consistent and ongoing support to production to create a culture of continuous improvement related to safety, quality and efficiency.
Track and audit the results of improvement projects.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
2 – 5 years of experience as a manufacturing engineer with at least a bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical engineering.
Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment, with responsibility for project scope, timeline, and budget
Experience in building-products or millwork industries a plus
Demonstrated hands-on expertise or formal training in lean manufacturing
Computer proficient (Office Suite and AutoCAD)
Experience working with FANUC CNC controls is a plus
