Hormel Foods Corporation Culinary Marketing Intern in Nevada, Iowa
This is an ongoing internship, with additional hours in the summer. Estimated hours include: 10-12 hours per week during the school year and 30-40 hours per week during the summer (during normal business hours, 8:00am - 5:00pm).
Primary Duties: Works with the full-time marketing team to complete special projects related to recipe development and testing. In addition, will help execute other marketing related tasks
Culinary experience is preferred, as approximately 2/3 of the time will be spent in work related to recipe development and testing. Will help research trends and menus, develop potential menu concepts, find trendy new ways to use our products, help plan and/or execute food show sampling, and prepare lunches for customer visits. Also, will help put together presentations for customer ideations.
Performs general clerical tasks, data entry, report formatting and simple design projects. Other tasks may include, but are not limited to, conducting Internet research, assisting with social media and Web traffic building activity and developing brief business communications (white papers and presentations). May assist with development and/or execution of other marketing projects. Will be required to work with equipment and ideas deemed to be confidential information and/or trade secrets; will be required to protect the company's rights in and ownership of those trade secrets and confidential information. Must be able to lift 50 lbs on occasion.Qualifications:
One or more years of work towards an undergraduate degree in Food Science or Culinary from accredited college or university preferred. Effective communication skills, both written and oral (on the phone and in person). Ability to analyze and understand numbers. Organization skills. Proficiency in personal computer software, including spreadsheet, word processing, presentation software, Access and Internet browsers. Must be self-motivating, courteous, tactful, cooperative, inquisitive, and must work efficiently and accurately.
