We have AIR CONDITIONING in our plant!! Our Packer/Handler is our entry-level position. If you have never worked in manufacturing before, this may be the opportunity you are seeking!

Our Muscatine, Iowa location is happy to announce we are moving away from the standard 1 st Shift, 2 nd Shift and 3 rd Shift type schedules. We are now offering set shifts that do not rotate: A Shift, B Shift, C Shift and D Shift. These schedules consist of 12-hour shifts.

This means you will have a set schedule and only work 7 days in a two-week duration, giving you 8 hours of overtime on your bi-weekly paycheck and 7 days off to spend time with your family and/or friends.

Here’s how the shifts work – again set shift – doesn’t rotate:

Shift A:7am to 7pm Every Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and then every other Wednesday

Shift B:7am to 7pm Every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and then every other Wednesday

Shift C:7pm to 7am Every Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and then every other Wednesday

Shift D:7pm to 7am Every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and then every other Wednesday

The packer/handler assures by visual inspection that all containers and lids are being manufactured and packaged according to Berry Corporation quality standards and guidelines in a safe and efficient manner.


Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area

  1. Inspect product to insure quality. Set aside product that is below quality standards. Work closely with Leads and alert Mold Tech and Supervisor of any quality issues or reject conditions. Watch molds for irregularities or sticking. Timely response to quality issues is key to this position.

  2. Complete assembly of product by installing gaskets in lids and handles in containers as required while keeping up with the production machines cycles

  3. Flame containers and lids when required

  4. Stack and pack product per instructions that vary with different customers and orders

  5. Prepare proper product identification and/or packaging label

  6. Assist with material handling and other tasks as needed

When the machine experiences an interruption in production, the packer/handler will take this available time to clean up oil, sweep, mop, make boxes or other tasks that may be assigned by the team leader or supervisor.

  1. Accurately complete any required paperwork

  1. Must be able to keep-up with the fast paced production cycles.

  2. Position requires agility and consistent attention to detail

  3. Able to tolerate constant repetition.

  4. Some workstations may require sitting or standing for long periods of time.

  5. Must be able to frequently lift, bend, and reach to perform necessary job functions.

  6. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds safely

  7. Must be able to identify alpha / numeric product codes

  8. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holiday and over-time


  1. Previous production experience a plus but not required

  2. Being able to read, write and communicate in English would be a plus.


  1. Dependable, good attendance is mandatory and associates must report to work on time each day.

  2. Good communication skills- able to follow directions and pass on important information.

  3. Ability to work alone and in a group setting

  4. Can be content doing routine work
