Lone Tree Community School District Substitute Paraprofessional in Lone Tree, Iowa

Lone Tree School has a tremendously supportive community and staff and believes in Every Student, Every Day. Staff and student schedules allow time for both staff and students to get to know each other. Staff collaboration is a priority in order to insure student needs are being met each day. Staff to student ratio is small, allowing for more individualized attention each day.

The Lone Tree Community School District is located along the Hwy 218 corridor with access to Iowa City in approximately 15 minutes. Lone Tree has a small-town feel with ready access to the amenities of Iowa City, Kirkwood Community College, and the University of Iowa. Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the teacher with educational activities.
  2. Assist the teacher in preparing, organizing and collecting materials for students.
  3. Assist the teacher in creating special strategies for reinforcing materials or skills based on student needs and abilities.
  4. Under the supervision and with instruction of the teacher, assist in individual and small and large group instruction.
  5. Alert the teacher to any problems or special information about an individual student.
  6. Assist in the implementation and monitoring of students' Individual Education Plan (IEP) as deemed necessary by the special education teacher.
  7. Supervise students on the playground, hallways, and in other areas as requested.
  8. Assist with supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies and other similar situations.
  9. Know emergency procedures for the building and classrooms within which you work.
  10. Attend IEP meetings deemed necessary for your work assignment when requested by the administration or IEP team.
  11. Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
  12. Participate in professional training when deemed necessary for your work assignment.
  13. Dress appropriately for the position and work required.
  14. Maintain a positive rapport with students, staff, parents, and community.
  15. Maintain confidentiality with student, staff, and school issues.
