JOB GOAL:

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Under limited direction, the EOC – Program Participant Recruiter serves as an initial positive contact for individuals who are low income and first-generation college students wanting to complete their HiSet or start the college admissions process. Primary responsibilities include attending recruitment activities, visiting high schools, and community partners throughout Linn, Johnson and Jones counties, representing Kirkwood TRIO EOC at college fairs, on an ongoing basis. The Program Participant Recruiter will be required to exercise discretion and independent judgment to perform the foregoing. Position includes extensive contact with students, parents and community partners. Travel will be required to high schools, college/high school fairs, and related recruiting activities. Will be required to work evening and/or weekend hours.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Visit, promote and recruit participants to the TRIO – EOC program at community partnerships and events.

  • Assist prospective participants with completing the TRIO – EOC application.

  • Communicate with TRIO – EOC director and advisors about participants needs.

  • Represent Kirkwood and the TRIO – EOC program at various other recruiting events.

  • Will participate, as requested, in special enrollment/recruiting related projects.

  • Provide input and insights into the development of special recruiting communication tools.

  • Regularly evaluate recruitment activities and make suggestions for changes and improvements.

  • Evaluate prospective students for their eligibility and qualifications for the TRIO – EOC program.

  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

  • Must be a creative individual with proven leadership, public relations, planning and strong interpersonal communications and team building skills.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree.

  • Previous experience working or participating in a TRIO program like, Talent Search, Upward Bound, Student Support Services or EOC, preferred but not necessary.

  • Should be enthusiastic about the community college and be able to relate well to the wide variety of people it serves.

  • Previous experience in a community college is desirable.

  • Multi-Lingual is a plus.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
