POSITION SUMMARY:The Refrigeration Mechanic must have a strong maintenance background must have ammonia refrigeration experience. Repair, install and troubleshoot refrigeration systems throughout the plant.This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety and Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintain engine room and boiler room equipment.Monitor and chart all freezer and cooler temperatures.Run daily boiler and condenser water tests.Maintain and PM all air conditioning and ventilation equipment.Maintain and PM all air compressors.Maintain and PM all sanitation pumps.Learn the technical skills to become a proficient Refrigeration Mechanic to be able to operator, repair, and PM all systems.Ability to work weekends, holidays on a rotating schedule and added hours when needed.Adheres to safe work practices, follows GMPs, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained. Reports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.Adheres to all safety policies and procedures.Ensures regulatory compliance at all times.Performs other duties as assigned.JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:Good communication skills, work ethic, and attitude.Able to consistently produce quality work in minimal time.Must possess good mechanical and electrical skills.Must be available for weekend work on an as needed basis.Physically able to lift up to 80 lbs up to 100 lbs on occasion.Able to stand and work on hard surface most of shift.Good analytical and problem solving skills.Ability to stoop, bend, and/or crawl.Must be able to read and understand operation manuals and follow oral or written instructions.Must be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision.LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.Ability to write simple correspondence.Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to add, subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distances.REASONING ABILITY:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Must have at Least 3 to 5 year or more experience in Refrigeration Maintenance or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.EDUCATION:High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:Ammonia CertificationDriver LicenseEqual Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with DisabilitiesThe contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
