Description

SUMMARY:

Coordinate food processing and complete duties such as adhering to sanitation standards, setting schedules, monitoring employee performance, overseeing manufacturing processes, solving technical issues, and training workers.

This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Produces the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost consistent with good manufacturing practices.

  2. Provides a safe work environment for all personnel.

  3. Recognizes and takes steps to resolve operating problems in order to minimize their impact on the operations.

  4. Cooperates with all departments to assure a coordinated work relationship exists at all times.

  5. Responsible for ingredient usage and all other department costs.

  6. Keeps accurate and up-to-date records.

  7. Enforces company policies in a fair and consistent manner.

  8. Encourages suggestions from employees which will improve production, quality, safety and/or control costs of production.

  9. Keeps production manager informed on operating and/or employee problems, quality, safety and/or control costs of production.

  10. Maintains consistent communications and monthly department meetings.

  11. Participate on plant safety team.

  12. Assumes personal responsibility to ensure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and, incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.

  13. Adhere to Quality work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.

  14. Ensures regulatory compliance at all times.

  15. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  1. Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.

  2. Able to train and motivate department personnel.

  3. Coordinate and supervisor all department functions.

  4. Able to supervise department personnel in a fair and consistent manner.

  5. Must be able to work overtime or weekends when required.

  6. Be able to recognize problem situations and take appropriate steps to resolve.

  7. Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and teaming skills.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  1. College degree preferred.
