Corteva Agriscience North America Soybean Lead in Johnston, Iowa

Description

Corteva is looking for a North America Soybean Breeding Lead. Critical to our success, this role will be a member of the global breeding leadership team, working together to drive the next generation of product performance. Finally, this role will have the opportunity to collaborate broadly with significant impact across Research & Development and Corteva Business and Production Teams.

Responsibilities - What You will Do

  • Responsible for all soybean breeding programs in United States and Canada, driving new value to our customers.

  • Set local breeding goals and strategies to address germplasm, trait, and product gaps

  • Establish germplasm strategies that are consistent with long-term product development needs

  • Effectively coordinate resources to maximize breeding effectiveness

  • Cultivate innovation by driving and implementing new breeding tools accelerating genetic gain in our product development programs

  • Partner and collaborate with other regional crop leads to manage a large network of research stations and staff in NA.

  • Partner to develop a global soy breeding strategy and implemented at the local level.

  • Partner with commercial, platform, and operations colleagues to deliver products, manage inventory, develop information in support of customer needs.

  • Partner across the Corteva R&D organizations to support the advancement for crop protection, digital, and seed products.

  • Responsible for developing talent, instilling trust and driving engagement to deliver results, ensure accountability and balance stakeholders.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A commitment to supporting a safe, diverse, and respectful working environment

  • Ph.D. in Plant Breeding, plant science, agronomy or agriculture or Genetics with 10 + years industry experience. Industry or public sector experience and expertise in seed trait development, seed business, plant biology, agronomy, or agricultural commodities.

  • Proven ability to manage large, complex, and dynamic teams, building new strategies and systems while delivering near term objectives. A key attribute will be the ability to identify, recruit, and develop new talent.

  • Strong technical understanding of innovative technologies and the ability to apply them to improve product development processes.

  • Proven strategic thinker who can balance short and long-term goals and objectives to deliver the next generation of products for customers globally.

  • Proven ability to work across groups and crops.

  • Persuasive communication and leadership skills.

  • Strong core values base as a foundation for leadership
