We have an opening in our R&D organization for an entry level research scientist to work at the intersection of world class statistics, computer science and seed product design to bring the power of accelerated genetic gain to our customers. This position will reside within the Systems and Innovations for Breeding and Seed Products Biostatistics team. This team discovers, adapts and develops state of the art statistical methodology and computational algorithms that convert into actionable knowledge real time, high volume data streams informing Corteva’s Seed Product Design.
We are looking for an inquisitive, detailed oriented, eager to learn and contribute statistician with interest in plant science and seed product design who wants to join a world class Biostatistics team.

Develop and deploy state-of-the-art experimental designs and phenotypic analysis methodologies to improve genetic gain in Corteva’s breeding programs, including
Recommend statistical analyses and processes for phenotypic and genetic selection across multiple locations accounting for field trends and Genotype by Environment (GxE) effects.
Develop and implement algorithms and methodology for the seamless incorporation of novel phenotypes, e.g. real time, longitudinal data generated by high throughput instruments, into machine learning based expert systems for field trial data analytics.
Collaborate with Data Science experts to implement high throughput analytic systems into internal analysis systems and pipelines.
Collaborate with plant breeders in multiple crops and geographies spanning the globe to understand biological questions and develop statistical solutions to complex questions.
Provide consultation and training to world-wide research community regarding implementation of statistical designs and methodologies.
Expertise is provided for external collaborations and publication is encouraged.
What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?
PhD in Statistics or related field
A solid foundation in statistical theory and a strong interest in applied statistical analysis methods.
Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with individuals of diverse language, cultural, and scientific backgrounds.
Solid foundation in statistical analysis methods, including mixed linear models, dimension reduction techniques, and longitudinal data analysis.
Demonstrated statistical computing skills: knowledge of ASREML, R, or related programming and analysis tools and the ability to manage and manipulate large data sets. Willingness to develop, test, and deploy internal analysis software.
Knowledge of technical aspects of plant breeding and quantitative genetics and understanding of commercial seed business.
