Position Overview:The main duties of the Mechanic position include performing a full range of repair and modification work on heavy equipment vehicles. This is a full time position, requires regular travel and overtime with occasional weekends through peak season. This position reports to the Territory Manager and has no supervisory responsibility.For more information regarding this position, contact Chuck at 319-362-8080.General Duties and Functions: Be prompt and timely for all assigned shifts, schedules and projectsBe aware of and familiar with the Company Handbook and abide by the employment policies and regulationsEnsure equipment preventative maintenance is performed timely, thoroughly and correctly at all timesTeach, coach and work with team in a constructive mannerConsistently keep shop clean and organized to promote professionalism, safety and efficiencyActively participate in any recommended or mandatory trainingsMake safety the main priority while working on equipmentEnsure all equipment released to the field meets or exceeds all DOT standardsMaintain a positive working relationship with co-workers and managementAdditional duties as assigned by management, as this job description is non-exhaustiveWillingness to perform duties outside normal scope of work (i.e. work in poor weather conditions or outside normal hours)Essential Duties and Functions:Perform a full range of repair and modification work on heavy equipment vehicles to include, but not limited to light duty, heavy duty and Redi-Mix trucks, backhoes, loaders and miscellaneous equipmentRepair tires, wheels, wheel bearings, idler wheels, idler bearings and oil sealsReplaces suspension arms, torsion bars, stabilizer bars, etc.Repair hydraulic and air brake systemsDetermine the nature and extent of repairs requiredPerform major and minor repairs on engines, power transmissions, transfers and related electrical, fuel and hydraulic componentsUse technical manuals and other publications to identify and order repair partsOperate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defectsExamine parts for damage or excessive wear, using testing equipment such as compression testers, computer software tools, test meters, micrometers, gauges and overall strong diagnostic skillsTest overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency before being released to field Cross-train with applicable positionsPosition Requirements:Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screenMust be able to pass a drug testConsent to authorization of a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Record requestAccreditation from school of mechanics or 3 plus years working with heavy construction equipmentClass B CDL Understand instructions from supervisory positions, both written and verbalBasic mathematical skills (i.e. Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide)Possess excellent communication skills in both written and verbal formsPreferred Skills and Knowledge:Fabrication skillsLicense greater than a Class B CDLPhysical Requirements:The physical requirements to successfully perform the job functions are:Ability to reach below/at/above shouldersPushing/PullingTwisting/BendingSitting/Standing/BalancingOperate hand and foot controlsSimple/Firm graspingAbility to carry over 50 poundsAbility to lift/lower over 50 poundsSquatting/Stooping/CrouchingKneeling/CrawlingGross manipulation (pinching)Croell, Inc.
