Job Description

Summary: The Corporate Buyer is responsible for developing the sourcing strategies and leading the sourcing activities of corporate services and materials, as well as to negotiate related contracts and to process the corresponding purchase orders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Support corporate departments to fulfil the procurement needs and requirements for corporate or companywide projects and activities

  • Develops objectives and strategies for indirect services and materials to insure customer satisfaction at the best cost for the company

  • Interact with Department Managers to discuss and understand their needs – verifies nomenclature and specifications of purchase requests.

  • Adhere to the Procurement policies and procedures; while training the organization to follow the Corporate Procurement Processes, policies and procedures.

  • Review specifications, analyze market and select potential suppliers, lead the RFQ process, analyze prices/quality expectations/delivery dates/terms, negotiate prices and terms and award and communicate orders to suppliers

  • Negotiates terms and conditions with suppliers for contracts and agreements.

  • Places, processes, and follows up on orders to expedite and ensure timely delivery to meet project schedules.

  • Resolves purchasing and other supply chain related issues and discrepancies

  • Manage supplier relationships, evaluate their performance and provide feedback for improvement

  • Analyze and monitor spend to look for sourcing and negotiation opportunities

  • Manage the supplier’s contracts

  • Assist in the preparation of the procurement business plan, strategies and support action plans to achieve objectives

  • Prepare reports, analyze its own metrics and prepare action plans for improvements

  • Collaborates between Accounting and the vendor to resolve billing discrepancies

Job Requirements

Competency and technical skills:

  • Strong analytical capabilities and ability to synthesize broad needs and selection criteria

  • Knowledge of techniques involved in strategic sourcing

  • Ability to negotiate and persuade and work with vendors

  • Good judgment and decision making in vendor selection

  • Strong initiative, leadership, and independence in developing and improving vendor relationships

  • General knowledge of negotiating contracts with suppliers

  • Technical competency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Access to analyse and manage data

  • Ability to work independently and coordinate work of others

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for all levels of organizations

  • Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals

  • Excellent organizational skills including planning, standards of excellence, and managing self

  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Ability to work well with ever changing priorities and situations

  • Must be a self-starter

  • Ability to define problems and resolve them quickly

  • Mathematical and reasoning skills required for proper analysis of supplier bids

  • Energy and enthusiasm for the work and building a stronger supply chain team

  • Ambition to grow personally and create a higher impact on the organization

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS) in Engineering, Supply Chain/Procurement, Business and/or equivalent; 5 year experience in the Indirect Procurement field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
