High School Math Teacher: Half-Time Alternative Education/Half-Time General Education

This position will support the Alternative Education Program and the General Education Program at DCG High School. This position will be ½ time in the Alternative Education program teaching core Math classes to our Alternative Education students (The course will include Alg. I, Geometry, and Alg. II). The other part of the position will be teaching Algebra I in the General Education Math setting. This position will be a part of the Math PLC at DCG High School. This position will have a modified schedule that will be unique to the position, but will still follow the overall building daily schedule. Alt. Ed Program will meet 4 days a week during the morning. On Wednesday’s Alt. Ed. teachers will have dedicated PLC time to support the Alt Ed student's progress.

Qualifications:

  • Creativity in designing and planning curriculum and assessments aligned to standards

  • Understanding and working knowledge of standards-based and competency-based education

  • Participate in creating a core curriculum for the new Alt. Ed. program between now and the start of the new school year

  • Strong understanding of core standards

  • Facilitate a classroom with multiple courses and various academic needs at one time

  • Build strong/healthy relationships of trust with all students and staff

  • Strong work ethic and collaborative teamwork

  • Strong classroom management

  • Flexibility

  • Organizational and communication skills

  • Understand and apply elements of the Professional Learning Community (PLC)

Certifications:

  • 5-12 Mathematics Required
