Nestle Maintenance Mechanic in Fort Dodge, Iowa

Fort Dodge is a city of 26,000 people located just an hour and a half north of Des Moines, three and a half hours south of Minneapolis/St. Paul, and 6 hours west of Chicago and is considered a regional hub for retail, recreation and industry. The Fort Dodge plant is a wet manufacturing facility that produces 5.5 ounce canned Friskies pet food and is one of the strongest in the division. 5.5 ounce cans are a customer favorite and keep the facility running at full capacity year round.

At Fort Dodge, the maintenance mechanic plays a vital role in plant operations. This person will be responsible for the maintenance of all plant systems, which includes processing, packing, warehouse and facility operations. Also, responsible for learning, troubleshooting and repairing of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply basic electrical and electronic principals in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of plant systems

  • Troubleshoot and maintain plant electrical and electronic equipment to competent level including operator interfaces, PLCs, process controllers, power supplies, etc.

  • Make minor repairs on general plant machinery such as fans, blowers, conveyors, belts, mechanical and screw conveyors.

  • Troubleshoot, calibrate, and program VFDs and PLC systems.

  • Install and maintain switch gears, control wiring and components, over-current and overload protection for plant motors including three phase systems.

  • Read, update and build electrical schematics and documentation

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum):

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED

Experience (Years/Type):

  • 1+ years of Maintenance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, technical, automotive or military environment OR 2 Year Technical Degree.
