Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Principal, facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills by implementing district approved curriculum, documenting student progress and outcomes, addressing specific educational needs of individual students and creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment. Provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations and goals.All positions assigned 30 or more hours weekly (typically 6 hours daily) are eligible for a full benefits package, including medical, dental and vision insurance and paid leave.

Essential Functions

  • Provides program direction to the Dodger Academy After School Program.

  • Assures program accessibility to students TK-4thgrade, with priority to Title I students.

  • Ensures that all program goals and objectives in grant application are addressed.

  • Encourages involvement of families and community within the program including opportunities for adult education and development of parenting skills.

  • Implements a system that allows for effective and seamless communication between day-school and the Dodger Academy program staff.

  • Coordinates with school staff for the provision of various after school components.

  • Develops a program evaluation consistent with school grant and the State 21stCentury Community Learning Center requirements. Meets with outside evaluator to incorporate the 21stCentury Continuous Improvement Management (CIM) plan and monitors continuous quality improvement activities.

  • Works cooperatively with the Fort Dodge Community School District to coordinate and administrate funding, secure and operate facilities, and provide annual evaluation of all components of the program.

  • Takes initiative to develop initial an ongoing positive relationships with children, parents, school personnel, professional colleagues, and community.

  • Markets the program to obtain support of the community.

  • Maintains schedules, transportation, and affordable fee structure and coordination of collaborative programming.

  • Facilitates communication between home, school, and community providers concerning students and their families.

  • Develops and supervises procedures for appropriate record keeping.

  • Assumes responsibility for daily supervision of licensed teachers, instructional assistants and volunteers.

  • Facilitate the student’s participation and academic achievement in the Fort Dodge School District.

  • Ensures that a proper (1:15) staff-to-student ratio is maintained.

  • Collaborates with other professionals in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs for Dodger Academy students.

  • Works cooperatively with the Bridges, School-Based Youth Services Program.

  • Develops a “Kids Council” of students to give input for program activities.

  • Participates in continuing professional education to increase and update skills.

  • Obtains appropriate consultation and supervision as needed.

  • Functions as a team member and team leader for the Dodger Academy Program.

  • Identifies and assists in obtaining additional funding opportunities.

  • Plays a leadership role in developing a collaborative process for seeking continuation funding including grants.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with educational background.

  • Teacher Certification preferred but not required.

  • Skilled in the areas of public relations, program development, evaluation, and school system processes, interdisciplinary/community collaboration, and grant writing.
