Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join our high school's Speech team as an Assistant Large Group Speech Coach. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for effective communication and theatre performance, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and be dedicated to fostering the talents of high school students in the realm of large group speech. Essential Functions :

  • Collaborate with the head coach to develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum for large group speech events.

  • Design engaging and skill-building activities that align with competition standards and guidelines.

  • Conduct regular practice sessions to hone students' public speaking, performance, and/or presentation skills.

  • Provide constructive feedback on performances, focusing on both content and delivery.

  • Support students in developing confidence and stage presence.

  • Assist in organizing and coordinating logistics for speech events, competitions and showcases. Including preparing students for events and communicating with parents and community.

  • Offer guidance on script development and effective communication strategies.

QualificationsHigh School Diploma or EquivalentPrevious experience in public speaking, theatre perormance, or related activities preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills• Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate and inspire students• Understanding of the educational value of speech and debate activities.• Strong knowledge of various large group speech events and competition formats.

Travel Requirements

  • Travels to school district buildings and contests/festivals as required.
