Position Purpose & Summary

The Chlor-Alkali Team Leader has overall management responsibilities of all aspects of operations, asset management, environmental compliance, and safety for the Chlor Alkali facility in Eddyville, Iowa. This position will lead the startup and integration of the Eddyville Chlor-Alkali facility. Position provides vision and guidance to ensure all personnel operate the facility to required standards in the areas of safety, food safety, environment, quality, customer service, operational excellence, engagement, continuous improvement and reliability. The candidate selected for this position is a member of the Eddyville Site Leadership team and will lead and assist in overall site leadership.

Principal Accountabilities

20% Development and supervision of direct and indirect reports. Work with peers at location in establishing consistent personnel policies. Lead department/area in a manner that leads to an engaged and safe environment.

40% Develop and implement strategies for operations of assigned area to include start up and technical optimization of processes and safety. Collaborate with peers at other facilities to establish plant policies. This involves working with Manufacturing Technology and various Centers of Expertise (COE).

20% Establish, implement and maintain area capital and operating budgets.

10% Oversee product quality to ensure total customer satisfaction, Interface with customers on plant visits and audits.

5% Execute site business strategy and provide leadership across Eddyville facility via working with other Operations Team Leaders.

5% Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree OR minimum 10 years technical experience with a high school diploma.

  • Minimum 5 years of combined experience between operations management and project management.

  • Minimum 3 years of chemical manufacturing or the equivalent related experience.

  • Working knowledge of Food Safety, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental regulations.

  • Demonstrated team building, leadership and conflict resolution skills.

  • Knowledgeable of basic HR practices, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Guiding Principles, etc.

  • Ability to effectively communicate (written, verbal, presentation skills) at multiple levels of Cargill and customer organizations.

  • Strong technical experience and/or knowledge.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally.

  • Demonstrated effective systematic approach to problem solving.

  • Ability to organize, coordinate and accomplish multiple tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

  • Experience in Hydrochloric Acid manufacturing and unit’s operations

  • Experience with Chlorine, Caustic, and Bleach

  • Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM).

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Proactive Maintenance Model

  • Continuous Improvement, Green belt experience or black belt certification

  • Knowledge of Human Organizational Performance and Safety
