Facebook Open Research and Transparency (FORT) is dedicated to figuring out new ways to support researchers through data sharing, while working to help keep people’s information safe. The organization develops researcher products which include data access controls, analysis tools, APIs, and datasets that enable research on the impact of Facebook on society, in areas such as elections and democracy. FORT is seeking a skilled Product Manager to help continue to scale our offerings to the research community.
Support the ideation, technical development, and launch of external research data, tooling, privacy, and governance products
Establish shared vision across the company by building consensus on priorities leading to product execution
Establish strategic and tactical roadmaps for FORT products partnering with the broader cross-functional teams across FORT, partnerships, public policy, and communications pillars to identify how to best serve the researcher community
Drive product development with a team of world-class engineers and designers Integrate usability studies, research and market analysis into product requirements to enhance user satisfaction
Develop and design measurement strategies to understand the impact of data and tooling products on the academic community
Understand Facebook’s strategic and competitive position and deliver products that meet the needs of the external research community
Be on the front lines of dataset launches and proactively communicate regular updates, launch dates and concerns
Build partnerships with internal teams including legal, data science, and privacy teams to establish standards and processes for responsible data sharing
Willingness to travel
4+ years of experience building researcher products which may include data access controls, analysis tools, APIs, and datasets
PhD, JD, or Master's degree
Experience with data science, social media data sets, and academic research on technology and society
Understanding of data sharing and privacy standards
Demonstrated experience in training others on digital tools and processes
Experience driving projects forward with multiple internal, external stakeholders and consulting experience
Experience presenting at public events and engaging with high-level stakeholders
