Principal Marketing Strategist in Des Moines, Iowa
As a Marketing Strategist you’ll provide thought leadership marketing to key external and internal audiences for the Retirement and Income Solutions business unit and across the enterprise. You’ll assist with developing innovative and strategic recommendations encompassing research, legislative, regulatory and investment topics to help elevate the Principal® brand and build out influence as a trusted leader for retirement expertise.
You’ll help develop and execute thought leadership campaigns that space earned and owned channels and help meet the needs of multiple audiences. You’ll provide research-based customer points of view and marketing guidance to the business and assist in influencing and briefing leaders and decision makers at all levels.
Assist with developing and executing strategic thought leadership campaigns in partnership with our research, communications, government relations and public relations teams.
Work cross-functionally with teams to build compelling, researched based points of view and campaigns to drive awareness and support for the retirement business and Principal brand.
Cultivate a solid understanding and application of target market research, marketing and competitive trends, market dynamics and regulations.
Track, analyze and communicate results. Use results analysis to improve future outcomes.
Perform other job-related duties or special projects as required.
We’re looking for someone with:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
4+ years of related work experience. (This includes development of thought leadership campaigns.)
Experience helping to building strategic marketing programs that deliver strong results.
Knowledge of the marketing profession and modern marketing strategies.
Ability to translate data analytics into implications.
Ability to understand complex technical information to create appealing and concise narratives.
Solid strategic and critical thinking skills.
Ability to influence to bring stakeholders together to deliver a consistent message.
General understanding across the entire customer journey with Principal
As well as an understanding of the competition and market opportunities and customer experience
Some travel required, including overnight stays
General understanding of Principal business, products and industry along with understanding or experience with identified audience.
Financial Services experience.
Understanding of how marketing automation tools work to execute marketing campaigns.
