Be a part of something great! The Holiday Inn Express & Suites - Downtown Des Moines is currently seeking an experienced full-time and part-time Front Desk Associates to join our team! As a member of our team, you will represent the Holiday Inn Express brand and serve as a knowledgeable professional of the greater Des Moines area.

Shift Availability: We can work with you to accommodate full- or part-time employment! Shifts include weekends and weekdays, 7am-3pm or 3pm-11pm.

Starting Wage: Starting at $14.00/hour depending on experience. Direct experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensures every guest is greeted and Welcomed on arrival

  • Registers and book guests, verifying reservation, address, email address and credit information

  • Proficient on kiosk operations to assist when necessary

  • Answers all inbound calls in a professional manner

  • Has an intimate knowledge of the hotel facilities and the local geographic area

  • Accepts payment for guests’ accounts at the time of registration and at checkout

  • Maintains a house bank and make a deposit and accurate report of receipts daily

  • Processes all Retail transactions for the guest

  • Responsible for restocking and assuring overall cleanliness of Retail

  • Issues luggage claims and check guest luggage when requested

  • Takes pride in the overall look and feel of the hotel assuring cleanliness and conditions are at their peak at all times

  • Respectfully listen and respond to guest complaints in an efficient and professional manner

  • Completes additional duties as assigned

Required Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar public contact position (high-end retail, hospitality, or related service industries).

  • Prior IHG and Opera experience is strongly preferred.

  • Basic computer knowledge and some knowledge in word, excel, outlook, and internet

  • A passion for the mission, vision, and values of Sherman Associates

  • Schedule may vary due to the specific needs of the hotel

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to stand at a desk for up to 8-hours per day. Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task

  • Must have the ability to move around freely throughout the property and office, and necessity varies from day to day

  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the hotel on a timely basis

  • Must be able to lift up to 25-30 lbs. occasionally

  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
