Principal Financial Planning Business Consultant in Des Moines, Iowa

As a Financial Planning Business Consultant you will lead all advisor training, development and support of the holistic financial planning process to include; talk track, fact finding, data entry, systems training, case consultation, value add case design, plan reviews and plan approvals. You will also author, develop and effectively communicate sales practice processes and training material to the field for both fee-based and non-fee-based services. Utilize your understanding of financial planning concepts to help train our advisors to build effective financial plans for their clients. Assist with developing new services and define implementation processes to enhance the RIA and BD product offerings for the purposes of retaining and recruiting advisors.

Here are a few examples of the kinds of things you'll do when you join our Financial Planning team:

  • Collaborate with business partners on the training and development program to create consistency in the advisor experience.

  • Promote Principal Securities Incorporated (PSI) RIA's fee-based financial planning and other services. Includes assisting with the development of tools and communications.

  • Assist with developing new services and define implementation processes to enhance the RIA and BD product offerings for the purposes of retaining and recruiting advisors.

  • Support outside product relationships by providing support and training to advisors and managing requests for new selling agreements. Includes assisting with audits related to the support provided.

  • Assist PSI Marketing team with other activities, which includes assisting in recruiting of agency managers and advisors by explaining and promoting PSI's financial planning products and services.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent required plus at least 6 years of related experience

  • Training experience required, preferably in a sales or marketing area

  • FINRA Series 6 or 7 and Series 65 or 66 required; Series 24 recommended

  • Must have excellent communication skills, including large group presentation skills

Successful candidate will have the following:

  • Familiarity with financial planning services, markets and the trading process.

  • Industry certifications such as ChFC, CFP or CFA preferred

  • Life & Health Insurance license(s) helpful

  • Product knowledge of needs analysis or financial planning software helpful (MoneyGuide Pro & eMoney)

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time
