Job Description
Community Based Corrections District 5 is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Coordinator.
Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Maintains appliances and mechanical equipment for daily operation. (Refrigerators/freezers in the kitchen and warehouse, heating and A/C units at Fort Des Moines, Admin and Fresh Start buildings)
Repairs doors, walls, floors, ceilings and interior painting as needed. Routine inspections of said areas listed.
Maintains operational functionality and repairs toilets, sinks, washers, dryers, kitchen equipment.
Routine maintenance of the grounds at Fort Des Moines, Admin and Fresh Start Center.
Applying fertilizer, herbicides, mowing, landscaping, snow removal from the parking lots and sidewalks and applying ice melt/salt as needed. At times staff supervises small work crews to help complete jobs when needed.
Communicates with venders for supply orders, assists the Public Service Supervisor with project designs and ideas for improvements.
Staff complete Basic Procurement Training
Follows all DOC guidelines and rules, makes sure buildings are in compliance with Federal Bureau of Prison’s policies and requirements and maintains compliance with OSHA.
Maintains tools and equipment inventory. Prevent loss and/or misappropriation of equipment and supplies.
Routine maintenance and testing of fire alarms and camera systems.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Experience equal to three years of full-time work in the building and trades industry;
OR
employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes one year of full-time work as a Maintenance Repairer.
