Principal ESG Lead in Des Moines, Iowa
As the ESG Lead, you’ll coordinate and maintain ESG strategy on behalf of Principal, aligned with Principal Global Asset Managers (PGAM) and the ESG taskforce. You’ll identify and align core ESG strategies and activations across the enterprise and business unit teams. In addition, you’ll coordinate with ESG Data lead, ESG Communications leader and ESG Workstream leader. Work with creative agencies to amplify executions and disclose relevant responsible business and investment practices through modern marketing channels and other ESG focused communication tools. Support Principal’s commitment to a diverse population, investment, conservation, volunteerism and to lead responsibly in the communities in which we operate.
Types of things you’ll do:
Partner with head of emerging strategies to coordinate the strategic planning and execute the enterprise wide ESG strategy. Work with ESG taskforce to turn strategic ideas into actionable plans to guarantee successful execution of the ESG strategy. Partner with external and internal stakeholders, across the enterprise, to confirm integration of ESG principals into processes and overall decision making.
Stay informed and participate with data lead to manage key ESG rating agencies and reporting framework developers to understand their methodologies. Support data lead in working with agencies to ensure the expected rating is received and work through any misconceptions that may have occurred to confirm all ratings are accurately reflected. Stay current on emerging trends as well as expectations for transparency and reporting.
Prepare and present the ESG communications to various internal and external audiences and media. Effectively share the story of the accomplishments completed or in process enterprise wide related to ESG effort.
Perform other job-related duties or special projects.
We’re looking for someone with:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Master's degree is preferred.
6+ years of related experience including previous ESG experience with focus on Social.
Experience with integrated communication plans is ideal.
Demonstrated understanding of ESG opportunity, impact on investor relations and rating agency requirements.
Demonstrated business leadership, vision/strategic planning, marketing, and relations management skills.
Financial services industry experience is helpful
