ARAG North America Content Marketing Specialist in Des Moines, Iowa

Does storytelling and introducing strategic creativity fulfill you? ARAG is hiring a Content Marketing Specialist! This position is a key contributor to the ARAG storytelling efforts with an impact on the organization’s bottom line, transforming ideas into reality by strategizing with marketing consultants, applying content marketing best practices, and creating content for all ARAG audiences. Your words will shape the user experience while raising awareness, engagement, purchase and retention of ARAG products – resulting in increased participation and revenue.

  • Works cross-functionally to strategize and create digital content.

  • Serves as a creative and digital content consultant to internal stakeholders, transforming campaign objectives into effective and engaging digital content.

  • Researches and develops digital content that carries out the ARAG branding principles and key messages of related products and services.

  • Suggests timely and topic-relevant digital content for all audiences based on current events and trends.

  • Performs content optimization techniques (e.g., SEO for web content, fact-checking).

  • Reviews all digital content to ensure it consistently and accurately portrays the ARAG brand and follows style guidelines, revising and editing as necessary.

  • Serves as expert on digital content best practices, ARAG tone and voice, product messaging and corporate usage and style guidelines.

  • Partners with marketers and UX experts to identify, create and distribute relevant and measurable digital content to all audiences.

  • Uploads website articles and materials to content management system and audits inventory of materials for updates, revisions, etc.

  • Maintains ARAG social media channels, including – but not limited to – the daily creation and curation of social media content in support of a cohesive social media engagement and growth strategy.

  • Monitors and analyzes digital marketing metrics (social media, websites, and emails) to track success, and delivers regular data reports.

  • Maintains understanding of content marketing trends, industry best practices and emerging communication strategies and apply to digital content creation.

  • Serves as a positive role model by representing the ARAG at its Best and Leadership at its Best.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Journalistic and storytelling skills with an ability to craft compelling digital narratives.

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency of digital writing, especially the ability to write clear, concise and grammatically correct copy for digital platforms.

  • Knowledge of AP Style is required.

  • Knowledge of digital content marketing strategies, especially social media and implementation.

  • Knowledge of working with content management systems preferred.

  • Working knowledge of insurance products and employee benefits preferred.


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong computer and technical skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as a basic understanding of new technology, work tools and media forms.

  • Experience with some of the following: content marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), social media, Google Analytics, Google Ads, Google My Business, Facebook Business Manager, Twitter Ads, LinkedIn advertising, link building.

  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external partners.

  • Highly organized, detail- and results-oriented with the ability to remain flexible in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

  • Collaborative spirit with ability to take ownership of a project in order to create a product of the highest quality while still having the flexibility to change mid-project based on internal and external feedback and requests.

  • Experience in photography, videography or content production, including design software (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.) is a plus.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, public relations, English, journalism or communications required.

Experience: 3+ years developing digital content.

Certifications, Licences, Associations, etc.: None required.
