Lead a team of retirement plan design experts focused on creating solutions to help meet the ever-changing needs of Principal clients. Provide strategic direction and leadership for the department that poises a strong technical understanding of retirement plan design and the applicability of best practices. The Consulting team plays a major role in utilizing analytical techniques to:

  • Create customized projects and reports that enhance plan design understanding,

  • Simplify complexities, and aid in decision making for retirement plan sponsors.

Collaborate with other areas to share retirement plan design knowledge that aligns with key initiatives. This is an exciting position that drives forward thinking solutions!Additional responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership of the department including coaching and development. Supervise, mentor, and coach direct reports, and handle performance reviews.

  • Develop and implement strategies and goals serving as the focal point for retirement plan design experts for the company.

  • Support both prospect and existing client objectives while continuing to evolve the team as a differentiator in the market place.

  • Work with senior management to identify market place trends and develop proactive solutions.

  • Perform other job-related duties or special projects as required.


Skills required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience of 8 years.

  • 8+ years related work experience. (Formal leadership experience is required.)

Successful candidates will have the following:

  • Strong knowledge of financial and retirement plan services industry required, along with a working understanding of retirement plan regulations and application

  • Must have strong problem solving, analytical, and big-picture/conceptual skills

  • Must be able to maintain accuracy and confidentiality

  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with ability to develop strong cooperative working relationships while maintaining independence, often requiring significant degree of diplomacy.

  • Demonstrates the ability to accept and adapt to a changing environment

  • May need to become an associated person of Principal Securities Inc, which requires fingerprint and a full background check.
