Job site is between Cedar Rapids and Waterloo. Handling, positioning, and installing various styles and kinds of pipe, and/or pipe related products. Be able to perform physical activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, and stooping. Be able to work in confined locations for extended periods of time. Be able to effectively operate hand tools (i.e. Shovels and Rakes) for extended periods of time. Be able to work effectively with other Pipe Layers/Laborers and Pipe equipment operators. Be able to safely operate small hand held equipment including but not limited to compactors, cut-off saws, chain saws, powered hammers, drills, and other various pieces. Operate a Self-propelled roller and/or Skid loader along with other types of power construction equipment, in a safe and productive manner.REQUIREMENTS:- Knowledge of: Basic Math Skills OSHA Trench Safety regulations and guidelines Safe lifting, hoisting, and rigging procedures Safe operating techniques of equipment Instrumentation and warning devices of the equipment being operated- Being able to lift 40 lbs properly, multiple times during each shift- Work away from home requiring overnight stays possibly week at a time or longer- 40+ hours per week, 11+ hours per day typical- Attend and participate in all training classes required by JB Holland- Provide own transportation to project site. Overnight stays week at a time required occasionally longer stays may be required. RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Perform duties as directed by the project foreman2. Grade and level trench bottoms, using hand tools3. Measure and cut pipe to required length4. Assemble pipe and pipe accessories as per specification5. Ensure trench is excavated to the proper depth/grade6. Be aware of changes in soil condition and materials that impact operations7. Be aware of proper rigging of pipe, manhole barrels, etc. and ensure safe work procedures are followed during lowering of materials into the excavation8. Operate in a safe, efficient, and productive manner9. Practice OSHA Trench Safety guidelines and regulations10. Take direction from Pipe-layer/laborer 1 and or pipe equipment operator on occasion11. Work harmoniously with other crew members12. Recognize and report any abnormal equipment operating conditions13. Recognize and report any unsafe working conditions14.
