This role will have specific responsibilities to a new multiple shift product line to Collins Aerospace Decorah Operations. Experience with welding (laser, tig) is required. This is an exciting opportunity to lead growth at Decorah Operations. At the onset (first 6-8 months) about 50% travel may be required to obtain skills from existing production location and to be part of the capital equipment factory acceptance testing at suppliers. This person needs to be a self-starter and be able to understand more complex and unique manufacturing processes. This person also needs to be able to troubleshoot to root cause and work to continuously improve production processes. Experience with Nadcap (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) is beneficial, but not required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.

  • Provide factory floor support and maintain/improves production processes

  • Upgrade processes to meet or improve EH&S related projects such as ergonomic improvements, work cell layouts, SDS related improvements, waste stream reduction

  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control to ensure compliance and effective production, including Key Characteristics and Key Process Inputs

  • Checks and validates that mandatory modifications are incorporated as required by the customer and the applicable regulatory requirements, to ensure legal compliance and adherence to quality standards.

  • Learn and use basic Lean (ACE/CORE) and 6sigma tools including value stream mapping, standardized work, statistical capability and ANOVA analysis • Conducts tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over applicable variables; and services, troubleshoots and solves production process problems with processes or equipment already in operation.

  • Ensure compliance to all procedures and uses change control to mitigate risk

  • Determines maintenance and repair materials required for deployment of new machines/processes

  • Process new Capital Equipment, such as writing capital funding requests, Statement of Work &

  • Must have the ability to work with cross functionally with operations, maintenance, quality, and design engineering to implement robust processes.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 7 years of relevant experience is required

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

  • Science, Technology, Engineering or Math degree required.

  • Manufacturing experience required.
