The Process Improvement Engineer will lead in problem solving for the Rolling Department as it relates to production/technical/maintenance/quality issues. Job Responsibilities and Duties: Knowledge and understanding of production centers machinery and equipment within the department; Monitor, track and report key reliability and machine efficiency metrics to identify key levels and opportunities for equipment and process improvements; Responsible for owning projects as it relates to those opportunities in the department; Lead the development of the corrective actions and problem solving for issues related to reliability and machine efficiency. Attend all meetings to support these actions; Provide sound recommendations for long-term improvement of process by remaining up to date with Best Practices; Responsible for identifying process deficiencies and driving improvements; Lead core cross-functional project team to assist in managing projects; Work with the Center of Excellence group of companywide initiatives; Collaborate with other inter/intra departmental resources to coordinate plans as it relates to outages/engineering changes; Work with Quality to identify key equipment gaps and opportunities; Assist with traceability gaps and identifying process improvements; Works with Quality to support new product and process launches throughout department; Perform and compile analytical reports to support changes needed within department; Directly interface with engineers to design, develop, implement projects; Lead development of system to resolve issues with ingots that cannot be rolled when scheduled; Lead certification efforts for Best Practices (HL steering, ML Leak reduction, etc.); Manage daily tactical issues with direction to Team Coaches & Lead Operators; Identify and implement process improvements while working with teams, and support staff; Coordinate with downstream customers as needed to ensure internal quality contracts and expectations are understood and met; Work across department and coordinate with downstream production centers/departments to support internal WIP levels; Responsible for ensuring appropriate content of related SOP's for the area; Generate work requests as needed for improvement efforts; Expertise in providing guidance and insight to production issues; Monitor and capture all process improvement activities and input in for savings in the DI System. Implement ABS principles and problems solving A3s; Actively drives and promotes all safety related tools. Ensures team members are safe when working through process improvement opportunities and changes; Ensure team members are completing appropriate pre-job briefs; Provide process expertise to team and serve as a problem-solving resource; Accountable for area process changes to ensure product quality is maintained, managing and controlling risks to safety and process integrity. Communicates process changes to affected personnel
