We serve a variety of end-use industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, building and construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer goods.Our Davenport, IA plants are seeking to add a talented Director of Operations to its Manufacturing team. Reporting to the SVP, Manufacturing Operations, the purpose of this role is to lead all manufacturing operations including melting/blending, casting, rolling, coating and slitting of aluminum environmentally correctly and safely, at specified volumes, quality and cost levels while maintaining high morale and cultivating a culture of continuous improvement. This role will manage both the Casting and Finishing facilities that employ more than 300 employees.Responsibilities IncludeiActively lead and participate in maintaining a zero incident safety culture.iLive and champion the Aleris core values; Safety, Integrity, Customer Focus, Ownership, Excellence, and TeamworkiFulfill core accountabilities within the policies and procedures established by Aleris and the discretionary limits and standards.iProvide input to the Production, Materials Planning, and Engineering-Maintenance processes regarding production capacities, costs and other operating criteria.iParticipate in the development of a long term (5+ years) business plan for the Davenport Casting and Finishing plants which supports the long-term business unit strategic plan.iImprove product quality and service to our customers.iImprove and control Davenport systems for cost and productivity while accomplishing Business Plan.iEnsure plant operation is within environmental legal requirements.iCreate a safe working environment and culture promoting safe work behaviors and ensuring Davenport employees are not injured while working.iProvide a climate of constancy, trust and employee involvement.iMaintain and enhance an organizational structure consistent with the principles of a requisite organization and of continuous improvement.iDevelop the capabilities of all Davenport employees through effective training, performance reviews, and provide for opportunities to maximize potential.iEnsure that all plant, equipment and facilities assigned to the Davenport plants are utilized, operated and maintained efficiently and in a way that ensures effective long-term service.iDevelop and maintain good relationships with the community and with respective governmental agencies and officials and ensure good citizenship of the company.Required QualificationsiBachelor degree in Engineering or Operations Management , or equivalent work experienceiMinimum 15 years' experience in operations and business management.iWillingness to travel approximately 10%Preferred Qualifications:iLean, Six Sigma Belt CertificationiAluminum Casting or Rolling ExperienceiLeader in a previous Lean transformation siteApply Here:
