Position Title: Coord, Registration
Department: GHG Practice Site Operations
Purpose: Responsible for coordinating all patient pre-registration activities including phone access assessment of patients/family/caregivers, assisting in processing complete, accurate patient registration in an efficient and courteous manner, obtaining patient demographics and insurance information, contacting precertification agencies when needed to assess patient insurance coverage, and will be the initial point of contact for patients scheduling visits and participating in the Genesis Chronic Care Management Program. Will interface with the patients and their families to discuss payment options prior to appointment. Will also assist in the verification of insurance, reviewing payment alternatives and making referrals to the insurance verification team as needed. Will ensure all activities achieve high patient satisfaction levels and support successful billing activities, while supporting the standards and philosophies of Genesis Health System. Additional responsibilities will be assisting with accepting payments, registration duties, patient identification worklist review, assisting with patient monitoring, health information collection and triaging patients.

Supervisory Responsibility: No Supervision: The job does not require the provision of guidance or supervision to others. There is no formal responsibility for directing others.
Materials Responsibility: Limited: Work requires limited responsibility for material resources. Examples of resources could include supplies, equipment, inventories, small budgets, and other similar material assets. The employee has a limited amount of control over these resources. The cost of errors is also limited in terms of damage, waste or financial loss. Problems associated with material resources are not complex. The volume of resources may vary, but the level of difficulty in dealing with these resources is uncomplicated.

Field Of Study: Medical Assistant
Special Training: Patient registration and/or pre-registration or accounts receivable and insurance verification experience
Training Preferred: Medical terminology, computer knowledge and strong computer/keyboarding skills, bilingual in Spanish.
Licensure/Registration: AAMA, CCMA, or NCCT Medical Assistant Certification within 12 months of hire.
Experience: No experience required.
Interpersonal Skills: Interaction is with a variety of people. These may be fellow employees, customers, the public or others outside the organization. Communications are of limited difficulty. Interactions usually involve short, straightforward exchanges of information. The job requires a limited amount of interpersonal skills. Interactions are non-stressful encounters and dealing with uncomplicated problem situations.
Working Conditions: There is limited exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Some undesirable or unpleasant environmental characteristics may occur but the physical environment is generally safe and there is minimal health risk. No safety equipment or unusual precautions are required. The occasional exposure to these minor adverse conditions would be limited to 35% or less of the work day.
