Our work depends on a DSU Training Specialist joining our team to support Pandemic Response activities at the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, GA. In this role you will provide training and support to CDC employees as they prepare for deployment to local, regional, national, or even international deployments

At GDIT, we put our people first. As a Training Specialist supporting the CDC’s Deployer Support Unit, you will be trusted to develop and implement training and educational products by utilizing the best new approaches and technology for live and web-based training.

This position is currently working 100% from home due to COVID restrictions. Candidates should be in the Atlanta, GA area and able to travel to CDC's Clifton Rd campus when needed.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Facilitate Pre-Deployment Briefings, including updating content and delivering materials.

  • Coordinate Pre-Deployment Brief content with relevant CDC offices and staff sections.

  • Track and record deployer requirements completion data for data tracking with DSU and multiple Deployment Community Teams.

  • Monitor and manage the team’s functional mailbox and relevant CDC data sources

  • Manage and update SOPs for the Pre-Deployment Brief, DSU functional mailbox, weekend coverage, and deployment liaison activities.

  • Attend necessary meetings, conference calls, and briefings. Ensure that all relevant notes and reports are completed as needed.

  • Provide pre-deployment and deployer data as requested.

  • Design training and educational products and resources to support the education of the CDC responder workforce.

  • Use cutting edge instructional technologies in the design and management of web-based training that is 508 compliant for CDC use.

  • Facilitate coordination among internal CDC partners to identify opportunities for collaboration in amplifying response-related messages.

  • Identify gaps in messaging to diverse audiences; coordinating and collaborating with appropriate internal and external partners to fill those gaps.

  • Presenting information in an understandable format, and emphasis on customer service.


  • BA/BS degree. A Master’s degree in Public Health strongly preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience with supporting emergency operations, first responder or public health training and/or adult learning; or comparable experience

  • Experience with CDC programs is desired

  • The selected applicant will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for Public Trust.

  • While experience in instructional design is a plus, the focus is on the communication of training to the CDC staff prior to deployment. The training resource will also assist with ensuring deployers complete all pre-deployment requirements, including the trainings.

  • Experience with Captivate is a plus
