The Regional Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for the essential functions below, which will positively impact MercyOne’s five Key Results (Consumer Experience, Team Engagement, Quality, Financial Performance and Ambulatory Growth).
Job Responsibilities:
Be a Strategic Marketing Partner
Partner with regional executives and service line leaders, leverage data and local knowledge to define growth priorities and identify service lines/areas where marketing will have the greatest impact.
Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with physicians, clinic staff, regional departments and service lines.
Partners with local clinics and service lines to define impactful Customer Relationship Management (CRM) efforts and coordinates implementation with system-wide resources.
Identifies marketing’s role in regional strategic plan implementation and supports system-wide strategic plan.
Partners with regional and system leaders on new product/service line development
Own regional affiliate partner marketing relationships

Collaborates with and strengthens MarComm colleagues across MercyOne.
Increase Connections with Consumers
Lead marketing of new providers in the region and partners to introduce the provider across the MercyOne system
Compose original written information explaining region’s services, products and programs.
Leverage system resources to plan, implement and optimize performance of comprehensive, cross platform, ROI-focused campaigns to achieve the region’s objectives and KPIs.
Allocate and manage regional marketing resources and budget based on potential return on investment.
Plans and coordinates special projects, activities and events which support organizational objectives.
Coordinates information gathering used to update public facing materials, including the website and patient portals.
Discover Insights and Measure Impact
Prepares and presents marketing impact reports and shares with regional executive management.
Measure and improve the effectiveness of messaging, channels and practices.
Maintains current knowledge about competitor’s position, performance and capabilities.
Monitors environment and initiates action plans as necessary to respond to market opportunities.
Coordinate with Communications and Public Relations
Partners with regional communications leader and system communications to
develop holistic marketing and proactive public relations efforts. Supports communications leaders in crisis communications as needed.
develop and implement regional communications strategy which connects colleagues with MercyOne and each other.
Identify internal client needs including awards submissions, ads, posters, signage, screensavers, etc. and partner with statewide resources on creation.
Gather insights to support patient/consumer experience and surface local or system-wide opportunities to improve consumer experience. Leverage system resources to create assets to achieve objectives. Ex: identify teams with low consumer experience scores and connect with resources for scripting or asset development.
Oversee monitoring of social media for local responses, request development of local posts in partnership with communications lead and social media coordinator to advance region internal/external objectives
Manage and Innovation
Manages regional marketing and communications colleagues. In collaboration with system leadership, interviews and selects colleagues who are a fit with the MercyOne Culture and demonstrate skills needed to advance MercyOne’s Vision. Ensures colleagues are appropriately oriented to the region and connected to MercyOne resources and training to promote growth.
Continually develops colleagues through understanding of the professional goals of team members, annual goal development, performance evaluations, team assignments, exposure to formal and informal training, servant leadership and spending time to understand andobserve work processes. Engages with colleagues in continuous improvement.
Partner with colleagues and providers to identify new opportunities and develop innovative activations

Qualifications
Knowledge & Skills:
Proven track record of profitably growing market share
Curiosity and passion for understanding consumers and how to engage with them including passion for Innovating and Improving Daily. Maintains state-of-the-art technical skills by review of literature, professional journals and participation in professional groups.
Foster a positive public image for MercyOne with ability to anticipate potential reputational issues and exercise high judgment
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to think and communicate clearly, formulate what is differentiating and important. Create a concise and well-written narrative.
Ability to relate to people across all levels and diverse backgrounds
Proven ability to build relationships with executives and leaders
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, readily adapting to continually changing priorities, and optimizing per feedback and performance
Outstanding interpersonal, project management and prioritization skills

Familiar with planning, use of data, and new methodologies (social media, databases, etc.).
Familiar with a broad array of health care issues.

Must be a strong relationship developer, consultant and demonstrate the ability to deal successfully with a variety of audiences (Physicians, Board Members, Managers and Community Leaders), inherent ambiguities and complexities of a multi-site organization.
Must be able to evaluate issues from a global perspective, yet retain the ability to understand and focus on the critical detail relative to the delivery of the service.
Demonstrated leadership and management abilities. Must be skilled in management technique, primarily in the areas of consensus and team building, employee engagement, delegation and conflict management. Commitment to improving daily and successfully adapting to changes
Dedication to leading by example
5+ years of experience in marketing -- either for a company or an agency -- as well as experience working firsthand with executives
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations. Master’s degree preferred
