Within the Iowa DOT is the Office of Driver and Identification Services (DIS) which is comprised of several work units that assist with driver’s licensing, records, and identification credentials for Iowans, as well as driver safety education.Contributing to Our Mission:As a hardworking and energetic team member, you will contribute to the safety of the public by ensuring each driver is capable of safely operating the vehicle for which they are licensed. When administering drive tests, this position will be exposed to all weather elements for extended periods of time. The Team:We believe that the entire DOT is “one team” and are seeking a team member who also believes this. As a new teammate, you will assist with providing training to team members on rules, regulations and the process of properly issuing credentials and ensuring the service center operate efficiently and effectively. This position will report to the Clinton Service Center. You may report to various locations for testing or issuance in addition to perform drive testing for those persons that would be eligible for restricted driving; some travel required.Your Responsibilities:As a Consultant, you will perform all license/ID issuance and record functions by determining applicant’s eligibility and qualifications so that credentials are issued in compliance with Iowa laws, departmental rules, and established policies and procedures. Attention to detail is essential to verify acceptable 'proof of identity' documents to determine authenticity; complete state and national record systems checks; determine eligibility from these record systems, as well as questions which may relate to insurance, civil penalties, substance abuse treatment, installation of ignition interlock devices, sanctions, and physical/mental ability. This position will work directly with customers to review driver information from multiple data sources. The candidate will analyze information captured and determine proper issuance of notices so that the individuals are properly issued (i.e. suspensions, lift notices, and/or temporary restricted licenses; process hearing requests, withdrawals and/or other actions) in accordance with Iowa laws, administrative rules and departmental policies; index, code and scan records on a daily basis; review documents in detail for accuracy and process without errors; review and answer questions from team members and the public, providing a customer focused response.Requirements:After hire, you must attend the Motorcycle Rider Education (MRE) Safety Course; obtain and maintain required American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) certifications. Minimum Qualification Requirements
