The principle purpose of the Buyer is to source and procure existing raw materials, site equipment, and services as needed for successful operation for the Charles City site. The Buyer is responsible for timely follow-up on any issues with purchase orders or supplier related issues to prevent or minimize unfavorable impact to the business.
Procurement through requisition conversion to purchase order whether for a product or a service. For raw materials purchases, order entry from the suggested orders report. Order placement by SAP, email or possibly other form of communication.
Follow-up with vendors providing the goods or the service to Cambrex to ensure on time delivery and accurate data is maintained.
Fill out New Vendor and New Product Code set-up forms to be routed through the approval process as well as obtain updated documentation from existing suppliers when needed.
Timely notification of supplier price changes to department management and entry of price changes into SAP system.
Negotiation of goods or services to be delivered or given to Cambrex Charles City Inc.
Work with the Purchasing Analysts to help track Purchase orders for new projects and act as back-up for Analysts
Work with the Production Planner to procure and deliver materials to the plant on time. This includes moving delivery dates as needed and relaying changes to suppliers.

All employees are expected to report to work regularly and promptly. Other duties relating to departmental mission, not specifically detailed in this section may be assigned.
Associate degree in business management or related field or Bachelor degree beneficial.
3 + years' of experience as a Buyer in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge or experience in GMP manufacturing environment beneficial.
Experience negotiating pricing, contracts, or other services.
Excellent written and oral communications skills needed.
Knowledge or experience with chemical or pharmaceutical intermediates and related manufacturing equipment will be beneficial.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications in Excel, Word and ERP Systems (SAP Preferred)
Detailed oriented, analytical, organized and objective in a fast paced environment.
